2025 Scholarship Essay Contest

A $2000 scholarship awarded to a Haverford High School senior who is pursing a college degree or vocational certificate

Congratulations to our 2025 Winners!

The applications we received this year were so excellent that the board was compelled to extend the planned single $2000 scholarship to FOUR $2000 scholarships and TEN $200 scholarships!

Requirements

  • Must be current senior graduating from Haverford High School in 2025

  • ​Must be accepted to and planning to enroll in a college degree or vocational certificate in 2025

  • Must submit application by 5pm EST on May 26, 2025

Application Instructions

  • Write a 500 word essay on the topic, "What does community mean to you?"

  • Indicate whether you are available ​to attend the in-person presentation of the award at our annual fundraiser. This will take place at McCall Golf Club on June 9th, 2025, around 5pm. â€‹

  • Submit your essay, award ceremony availability, and the name of your post-secondary education institution via email to brittneyejohnson@gmail.com with the subject line "JDM Scholarship Application"

  • ​This award is in honor of Jack McDonald, whose dedication to the Havertown community is continued through the John D McDonald Memorial Foundation

  • The winning essay may be posted on the JDM Foundation website.
